A Letter to Myself

When in doubt just write a letter to yourself.

Dear Sabrina, 

So, you're going to be 26 in about a month. Pretty crazy, right? 

Twenty-six years of being on this earth. 

At this point, I'm pretty proud of you. I know that's something you really appreciate hearing. You have experienced great things: love, passion, heartbreak. 

Be thankful for each of these experiences for without one you may not have experienced the other. 

Also, being single is not a bad thing, no matter how many times you get that "Oh-you-must-be-so-lonely-look" from people. 

No matter what, you rock that single-status like no other. 

I'm going to be honest with you. You are kind of a lot to handle. You are stubborn, opinionated and you have a hard time sharing the spotlight. 

Just no more charity event fiascos, okay? Everything else is fair game. 

Even if you crave attention, you are one of the most fearless people I know. You are not afraid to try new things. You stand up for what is right. And you have one of the biggest hearts (I'd like to thank your mother for that). Compassion looks good on you. 

As for those insecurities, keep working on them. There is something to be said for always wanting to better yourself, and you're going in the right direction. You have finally embraced your crazy hair (put down the flat iron every once in a while). You appreciate your curves. And your skin is finally acting it's age. 

A word of advice: Never lose your heart. You have always been guided by what feels right and that is an intuition that will never lead you astray. Fall in love and fall in love often. 

These next years you will be learning even more about yourself. You are capable of more things than you know. Don't hold back your shine, even when you're around a bunch of dark clouds.

Keep learning, keep teaching and keep living every moment you can. You are finally doing what you love and that is something you will never regret.
