I'm going to start out by giving you the moral of the coming story first. Manners. People have bad manners. Either that or I am REALLY uninteresting.
hmmm.. we'll stick with my first assumption.
I was asked out on a date this summer. We took a summer course together and had hung out a few times, so the thought of a date seemed like a great idea. Let's call him Mr. Manners:
And this was a proper date. We both dressed up, he picked me up at my place....
Opened my door? Nope.
Bad start.
We went to this little restaurant and were seated in a table near the back of the room. As I sat and looked at the menu, Mr. Manners got up to use the restroom.
After about ten minutes I was slightly grossed out at the thought of why he was gone so long until he returned and was talking on his phone. Not only did he say "excuse me/ sorry" when he sat back down....
He Took Another Call.
Now, obviously it's not like I was going to marry this guy, but really when is it ever okay to keep your phone on during a date?
For the rest of the date we chatted off and on, but his phone stayed on the table.
I guess I didn't realize just how important Mr. Manners was... I should really feel lucky :)
To end the date he walked me to my door. As I said my thank yous and goodbye he dared to ask:
"Aren't you going to invite me in?"
Instead of slamming my door in his face, I chose to be nice, laugh a little and say "haha thank you for the nice dinner, but no."
Now, this story really isn't that shocking. I'm sure every lady has experienced something like this. Probably more than once. Manners are a big deal. Saying please and thank you, treating people with respect and chivalry are HUGE in my book.
So, Gentlemen, if you're out there:
Next time you go out on a date and text the whole time chances are, at the end of the date, you wont be getting that invite inside.
I think that's pretty reasonable.
Plus... I looked like this:

Maybe he was texting all his friends how good I looked?
"HEY EVERYBODY! COME SEE HOW GOOD I LOOK!"

Name that movie.
Go.
Go.
